Donations of Prayer & Praise

Share in the Ministry of the Divine Office from Home

When Catherine Fowler was here (see associate profiles), we realised how important the ministry of singing and chanting the office, or parts of the office can be. It is both a means of personal spiritual growth and an offering for the needs of the world. Associates can commit to linking their recitation of the Divine Office with the Skete. Some members of the Association may prefer to use the Roman (vernacular) office or be bound to the Eastern Rite office -even so you can offer an intention for the Association and skete daily as part of your practise. If you are committed to maintaining the tradition of Gregorian chant, you can undertake parts of the Latin chanted Office as part of your home prayer. The skete will help you develop this as a ‘distance chanter.’

Link your prayer time
with prayer at the skete

Share in the ministry of prayer from Home

It is important for all of us to develop a period of prayer and meditation at home. Simply ‘linking in’ to Sancti Angeli Skete when you make your space for prayer, or even synchronising times can help to develop our invisible sense of working towards the shared goal of Christian unity and the growth of the Church as part of a fellowship. God works firstly by the prayer of the heart. Make this part of your commitment as an Associate.

Share your lectio divina or Bible/east-west studies

In your home life, or professional life as a religious, you may be beavering away at studies which interest you. Via the forum or by sending a text of your studies you can share them with other members through the Association pages, rather than putting them away in your bottom drawer! That way we contribute, to a growth in understanding and benefit each other with the fruits of our meditation.

The Skete: Prayer, Finance & Land - Long Term Needs

Pray for vocations to Sancti Angeli Benedictine Skete

If we pray, God will answer. Sister Petra Clare asks all Associates to make it a priority to pray for vocations to the skete. The skete vocation has always been part of the church but it has never been more needed than in today's world. If we pray and can gather people together here this way of life can be part of a major renewal of religious life in the UK.

The life of prayer has always
thrived in lonely places

Major Finance: a permanent hermitage site

If you want to look at something which exemplifies much of the vision of Sancti Angeli and what it could be, take a look at the New Camaldoli website at Big Sur. Transpose this into the Highlands with Finnish or croft style hermitages, with a common church, refectory and public study centre. Think of women and men religious in each hermitage practising the vocation of prayer without ceasing, working at various tasks - may of them craft or academic -to earn their living, and meeting together in Divine Office and Liturgy. Think of the study centre as a place of meeting of spirits where courses and retreats can be run to develop religious studies and understanding between peoples.
