Draft Trust Deed

 

We, ......, in order to create a trust to be known as eastXwest Angels Charitable Trust (the Trust”)

(One)        appoint as trustees ourselves and ....(who and whose successors are referred to as “the Trustees”)

(Two)        pay the sum of £1 to the Trustees: And we direct as follows:-


Trust purposes

1.    The Trustees shall hold and apply the sum of £1 paid by us to them, and such other funds and assets as may from time to time be comprised in the Trust Property, in trust for the following purposes:-

  1. a.Promotion of religious harmony by educating the public in eastern and western Christian beliefs and practises, and their ethnic and cultural context. b. Advancement of religion by funding religious life with relevance to purposes (a) and (d). 

  2. b.Advancement of religion by funding religious life with relevance to purposes (a) and (d). 

c.  Preservation and development of liturgical arts and crafts.

d. Relief of poverty in religious life & religious education, especially where no regular funding or care is provided by other means. 

e. Conservation of the natural environment and it’s sustainable development.... (clause to be revised).

  1. 2.The expenses of creating and administering the Trust, and any tax payable in relation to the Trust, shall be met in priority to all other payments and transfers of assets out of the Trust Property.

Powers

3.    In the administration of the Trust, the Trustees shall, in addition to the powers and rights which are conferred by law upon trustees who are acting without remuneration, have the fullest powers with regard to investment, sale, administration and management of the Trust Property as if they were owners; in particular (but without limiting the scope of the powers which they may exercise under the preceding provision), the Trustees shall have the following powers:-


(a)     To develop religious studies, in particular those which contribute to harmony between eastern and western Christians, including a bursary fund for religious studies.

(b)     To provide premises and funding for the training and support of members of Sancti Angeli Benedictine Skete (or it’s successor), and it’s voluntary helpers. As possible, to support any individual persons or religious houses, in context of Trust Purposes (a) and (d).

         (c)      To conserve and develop liturgical arts and crafts, by (i) education of   

                         liturgical crafts persons (ii) setting up a Poor Churches & Parishes Liturgical                

                         Arts fund.


(d)   To set up a hardship fund for debt relief, including student debt, among aspirants to religious life; for poor religious, and small communities, including those subject to Roman canons 603, 604, 605 (1983 Code of Canon Law).

(e)   To raise funds for any religious houses, education and retreat facilities, associated with the purposes of the Trust, putting in place an eco- aware policy as possible and practical.

(f)    To carry on any other activities which further any of the Trust Purposes.
